All you do is plug it in and you will see a faint blue light, it does not give off any sound just walk away from it and let it do its job. When there is that one mosquito that won't let you sleep, this machine will trap it and leave you in peace. Also it is super quiet. I have tried many brands and this is by far the quietest. I liked it so much I bought 2 more.
